Plot Summary

Two brothers lose their mother to an incurable disease. With the power of "alchemy", they use taboo knowledge to resurrect her. The process fails, and as a toll for using this type of alchemy, the older brother, Edward Elric loses his left leg while the younger brother, Alphonse Elric loses his entire body. To save his brother, Edward sacrifices his right arm and is able to affix his brother's soul to a suit of armor. With the help of a family friend, Edward receives metal limbs - "automail" - to replace his lost ones. With that, Edward vows to search for the Philosopher's Stone to return the brothers to their original bodies, even if it means becoming a "State Alchemist", one who uses his/her alchemy for the military.- Anime News Network

this is so much better than the english made original. far exceded my expectations. 10/10

  2. Shade says:

hey if Ed’s alchemy gate is gone wat about his alkehestry gate, shouldn’t he be able to use that gate?

  3. Shrak says:

For anyone who has yet to watch this abomination do yourself a favor and go watch Full Metal Alchemist, the original. I can’t believe so many people like this p.o.s. remake. I don’t know which is worse the horrible voice acting, the scripts that sound like they were added as an afterthought, or how half the line sound like they are forced.

I’m not even sure where to start of the way it looks. It’s as though it takes place in a third universe, I keep expecting them to run into batman…oh wait, I think the baddie at the beginning of episode 1 IS batman.
And WTF is with Al being a girl??? One of the main MALE characters is OBVIOUSLY a female voice actor. It’s bad enough when they genderbend voice actors, but most anime use a female that sounds like a young boy. The point of hiring a female is they try not to hire kids. but if its going to be obvious it might as well sound like an old man than a young girl.

This anime is a trainwreck, if you must watch, then do yourself a favor and hit yourself in the head with a hammer first…cause then with braindamage you wouldnt know how bad it sucks. I hate funimation for doing all this but for this particular anime Im glad they did.

Brotherhood is the biggest P.O.S. since…well since the term pos was created.

    • Kazuya says:

      1. This is based off the manga so little of the first anime was correct. (Although it was still fantastic.)

      2. Al sounds fine to me, the voice actor is different and so is the voice but that’s not a big problem as the VA is not all that bad. (Btw many male characters in anime are voiced by females.)

      3. If you don’t like it don’t watch it and complain =/

But I guess it is your opinion, just don’t shove it down other peoples throats.

    • Madarao says:

Too bad you don’t even realize that THIS series is folowing the original manga, therefore the more solid plot. And honestly if you like FMA at ALL you’d get over it. But if you have so much time to insult something you don’t even understand, then go use it complaining elsewhere.

    • Hey you Shrak. Keep your opinions to yourself. the brotherhood fallows the manga so STFU!
      Thank you very much, frog-tard

      • KyoKyo84 says:

dude, do your research before you flame a series… otherwise you make yourself out to be an idiot and irritate people who actually know anime and their connections and have to waist there time correcting you than enjoying the anime itself!

    • PeterPumpkinEater says:

Yeah…your argument is kinda invalid. Haha. First of all, your batman comment was just stupid. What 3rd universe are you from? As for Al’s voice actress? Aaron Dismuke went through this MIRACULOUS thing we call puberty. You know. Deeper voice and so he can’t sound like himself from when he did the original voice acting of Al? So obviously we couldn’t do that. The person who cast Al’s new voice actor did perfectly fine with their choice, so you can just simply put that out of your mind. Little boys sound like girls period. Most younger boys in anime and in cartoons period are voiced by women. Al sounds like Al. Get the stick out of your butt :)

Furthermore? This anime is a remake in order to follow the manga. It doesn’t go off on a tangent and off plot like the original. That being sad, the first series is amazing, but so is this one. So shove your foot in your mouth and keep your radical opinions to yourself on a website such as this.

We’re quite defensive over matters such as these :)

This rockw Ive always thought Full metal had alot more goin on and this one actually goes in the right direction we Americans always change so much trying to make it “better” but what could be better than the original…… That’s right NOTHING

(edited by Heather because this persons english is about as good as my 3 year old cousins, friggen tard)

      • KyoKyo84 says:

Ok WE AMERICANS did not do the first series that was done in japan do your research before you make such statements and thanks heather for helping me to understand what he was saying in the first place

  8. cadamon says:

is this a sequel to the original, or a rewrite, or something else? after the original is not viewable here, I’m wondering about it.

    • j says:

This is a rewrite of the original… It is more in line with the original comic… this one is darker too, I have seen both and I like both versions about the same just for different reasons.

      • cadamon says:

        thanks a lot.

  9. Yakurenazea says:

FUNI’d means FUNIMATION’d…i thought it would be pretty obvious considering the FUNIMATION logo in the first few seconds of most of the episodes…But i digress. Great series all the way to the end, one way or another.

  10. mat says:

    wats funi’d meen?
